What a privilege and a joy to be able to serve the city Tehachapi as a member of its city council! I have served one term as its Mayor and now serve in 2017 as the Mayor Pro-tem.
I have resided in this wonderful city since 2001, moving here after marrying ED Wiggins, whose family helped settle Brite Lake and the earlier town of Tehachapi.
I am now a widow but remain active in the city and other community groups. I grew up in the desert community of Mojave, serving as a member of the Governing Board of the Mojave Unified School District and later as a member of the board of directors of the Mojave Air and Spaceport.
Once in Tehachapi I continued my community service by participating as a member of the Tehachapi Recreation and Parks District board for four years.
As our city continues to grow with a managed city plan, I cannot believe the changes that have come in the last 16 years. Within our valley we now have five wineries, more light industry, and are waiting to break ground in 2017 for a new Wal-Mart.
While some do not want any growth, if we remain exactly the same, other cities will grow and prosper using the grant funds that we now get for many projects. Managed growth is healthy for our economy and our residents. We will never grow stagnant in our quest to keep making our city a wonderful place to Live Up!
