Economic Development Partners
Kern Economic Development Corporation
Kern EDC’s Mission is to stimulate a diversified and strong economic climate in Kern County, through recruitment of new business opportunities and assistance in the retention and expansion of existing businesses.
Kern EDC was established in 1988 as a public private partnership in response to a lagging economy caused by a precipitous drop in oil and agricultural products. Forward-thinking community leaders came together to create a sustainable vehicle that would help to ensure regional economic stability. Kern EDC was founded in order to enhance the County’s quality of life and offer new employment opportunities to residents. The public-private coalition was given the critical role of promoting the diversification of the community’s economic base.
Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance
The Greater Antelope Valley Economic region encompasses over 3,000 square-miles and includes both Northern Los Angeles County and Eastern Kern County. Now home to over 475,000 residents, the Antelope Valley has quickly become a destination of choice for individuals, families, and companies seeking prosperity and a high quality of life.
The Antelope Valley provides a thriving environment for economic growth and offers a wide range of benefits to businesses seeking to relocate or expand into our area. Our region is unique to California in that it offers a business friendly climate through the cooperation of our residents, cities, and elected officials. By reducing taxes to businesses and offering them more incentives to expand, the outcome is increased job growth and an increase in private sector capital. The tax savings and incentives provided within our Enterprise and Foreign Trade Zones together with an abundance of affordable commercial land and facilities help lessen the impact associated with start-up/relocation costs and allow businesses to increase their profit margins.
