On September 5, 2017, the City Council adopted a Resolution outlining the City's intent to transition from an at-large Council election system to one that is district-based.
On September 5, 2017, September 18, 2017 and October 12, 2017, the City Council held public hearings to receive public input regarding the composition of the districts.
Following the first two hearings, draft maps were drawn to identify the proposed boundaries of the districts. Following the third hearing, revisions were made to the maps following suggestions of the public and City Council.
The City Council held a fourth public hearing during the regularly-scheduled City Council meeting on Monday, November 20, 2017. The Council approved the proposed "Purple" map and the first reading of the district-based election ordinance. On December 4, 2017 the ordinance and City Council District Map was unanimously approved by the Council.
