On Saturday October 27, 2018, the Tehachapi Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. The Tehachapi Police Department collected approximately 217 pounds of unwanted or unused prescription drugs and medications on Saturday.
“We would like to thank the community in participating once again, removing 217 pounds of unwanted prescription medications from medicine cabinets and to responsibly dispose of them. Unfortunately prescription medications are often stolen, and by removing these unneeded drugs we also keep them off our streets,” said Kent Kroeger Chief of Police.
The DEA host the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day twice a year and the next event will be held in April 2019.
